RUSA Permanent #553, first approved in January 2009

Introduction This is a 200K loop, starting in Richfield, Utah and travels south and east, circumnavigating Monroe Peak (or Monroe Mountain as it is locally known) in the Fishlake National Forest. This route and name was originally designed by randonneur Jim Smith of Gunnison Utah.
Get your climbing legs ready! From mile 10 to mile 23, this route gains 2170 ft. After this climb you will experience rollers and high mountain reservoirs as it gradually heads downhill to the end. It passes by Big Rock Candy Mountain resort (mile 97.6), hence the name “Rock Candy Rumble.”

Stats 201.1 km (124.9 miles), with 4700 feet of cumulative elevation gain. The lowest point of the ride is at 5223′ and climbs to a high point of 7393′. Typical season is from April to October. This route has a high “mean” or average elevation which makes it good choice for the hot summer months.

Start Point Richfield, Utah. From Provo or Salt Lake City, head south on I-15 & take the Scipio exit onto south-bound US50 for 40+ miles and then turn left (south) onto SR-322 which becomes US-89. Take I-70 and get on westbound I-70 for 8 miles and exit at #40 going south into Richfield.
