Topaz Tumble — RWGPS Link — Permanent # 530

200.0 km (124.3 miles) with 1668 feet of cumulative elevation gain.
The elevation of this ride ranges from 4,589′ to 5,220′. Typical season is year around, but can be very hot in mid-summer.

Introduction
A 200K ride in the west desert of central Utah (also called the Great Basin), just southeast of the popular topaz rock hounding area of Topaz Mountain (checkpoint #2 is on the road which goes to Topaz Mountain). The Little Sahara sand dunes are also nearby to the north. This route has little vertical gain for fast times on short winter days. Also, because of the lack of trees and shade on this route, the roads tend to melt snow quickly for a safer ride in the winter. It starts and ends in Delta and makes a clockwise loop through Lynndyl, Leamington, Oak City, Meadow and Fillmore (Utah’s original state capitol).

Start Point
Hart’s / Phillips 66 @ 76 North Hwy 6 in Delta (junction of east Main St & US6). Delta is between Provo and Cedar City, about 40 miles off I-15.
Directions: From Provo head south on I-15 & take exit 228 (N. Nephi) exit onto Main St north of Nephi. Proceed a few miles into the center of town and turn right onto SR-132/100 North St heading west/SW to Delta (some 49 miles).
From SLC check with Google maps (proceed west of Lehi through Cedar Mtn & Faust might be the best bet).
From southern Utah proceed north on I-15 to exit 158 (Meadow) and take SR-100 north and then US-50 NW into Delta.

This Route is Closed on Sundays!
One of the key c-store checkpoints is closed on Sundays. Bypassing this service in Oak City would increase the mileage between services to 79 miles!
